CodeAblaze: Igniting the Future Through Code 🔥
Cameron and Audrey shared a passion for both badminton 🏸 and coding 💻. One day while playing badminton, they started brainstorming ideas 🤔 for fun coding projects involving badminton and started reminiscing about their first memories of programming 💭 What if they could share their fun 😆😂 primary school experiences with other kids? And make it free so that kids who don't have access to technology can all enjoy the thrill of coding!
Audrey and Cameron decided then and there that they needed to ignite the fire with CodeAblaze! 🔥
It was chaos at first—pitching their idea to local schools, convincing administrators that teenagers could actually run a program, recruiting experienced volunteers, scrambling to find creative ways to teach with limited resources. But soon, CodeAblaze became real. 🏋️👷
Soon, students were building animations, programming small games 🎮 and solving problems 🧩 with technology. The eager young learners lit up with confidence. 😊
The kids blossomed. Cameron, Audrey, and their team of dedicated instructors had set something ablaze. 🔥
Now, CodeAblaze not only shares the fascinating activity of coding to young minds but also makes special efforts to promote equality in the STEM field through free instruction. 👧🧒🖥️
Coding is a passion of mine that began in elementary school during an Hour of Code activity, when I saw my classmate playing a game I created. Since then, I have created dozens of games and websites, as well as participated in tournaments to hone my technical skills. Through all the years, programming has all but lost its magic. I co-founded CodeAblaze with the intention of sharing the wonderful experience of coding. My other hobbies include badminton and reading.
Hi there! Throughout my 11 years of coding, I have enjoyed the multifaceted applications of programming, especially AI. Yet with every passing year, I hear more girls say coding is too hard or boring. And so I cofounded CodeAblaze to avert this perception early on and instill in young minds that coding is positively fun! As an added bonus, I get to see my students' faces light up with joy and laughter during their "Aha!" coding moments. During my free time, I also love to bake, cook, read, work out, and take photos of nature.
I am a current sophomore at Leigh High School. I started coding in Python in 7th grade and enjoy making games and interesting applications. My favorite part about coding is finally getting the answer to a hard program and helping with new coders understand coding concepts. Outside of coding, I enjoy playing soccer, listening to music, and hanging out with my friends.
I am a sophomore at Leigh High School. I started coding with Python as a middle schooler. I think the best part about coding is the satisfaction of problem-solving, and I love to see our students experience it for themselves! Art is my main hobby outside of coding.
